Bridgett Crocker: My Heavy Heart Collection is the result of a life changing event has left me with holes that I fill with artistic expression on a canvas; a diary of emotions. Although I have used a large variety of mediums to create art or re-purpose anything that "needed a new story" throughout my life, my painting “style” has developed over time. It was not something I achieved by having a specific goal. It just evolved. In this collection, I incorporate a dimension that is separated from the painting. This dimension is always black and white, and consists of my “little guy or girl” and/or an origami bird. This layer holds a significant meaning to me. Whatever feeling I may experience at a particular time in my life, I choose to hold that emotion in my hand and allow it to trickle onto a canvas. This creates a preservation of my story, while letting go of the pain, a little at a time. To put it simply: I paint because I must.
